My wife and I went for our 36th Anniversary. Juan worked with us through the planning process for our 8 days there and the events we wanted to do. He was very flexible as we continued to modify the itinerary to see/do as much as possible during our brief stay. All transportation via driver, train, bus, plane, and boat was handle for us and went flawlessly.
We’ve never done a private tour before, but felt it paid huge dividends at busy sites. Having a private guide knowledgeable on the site made the trip very educational and fascinating. In fact, we would often see other tourists listening in to pickup key tidbits. We hiked about 45 miles during the trip. We live in Colorado at 7500ft so the altitude was not much of an issue, but we could have better prepared for the climbing and descents.
We enjoyed Puno and Lake Titicaca. We flew in, but in retrospect would have loved the full day mountain train ride. We spent a day going to Ica and the Huacachina Oasis to ride dune buggies. We also visited local wineries. It was a lot of fun, but the round trip cost in time made this an item we would not do again. Sacred Valley was the highlight of the tour. Absolutely great beaty, architecture, history, food, and people. On the day we visited the salt mines, we rented ATVs an rode around the country side. Besides being a blast, it provided a way to get into small villages and local communities where you could see families going through their daily routine. The views were outstanding where you wanted to stop and take photos at every turn.
Our last two days included Machu Picchu and Cusco. Juan again provide expert historical context to include the why the Incas did what they did. We learned so much more having him as our guide. Freddy was an expert driver navigating traffic and always at the right spot and the right time. I can’t give enough kudos to Amazing Andean Adventures and their team. Our recommendation is this is the only way to do Peru right! Thanks Juan and Team!
